2016 Scion tC Expert Review by KBB.com

2016 Scion tC review by Kelley Blue Book

KBB.com’s editorial team were recently given keys to our 2016 Scion tC, and had plenty of positive feedback for its readers, opening up the Expert Review by saying the tC delivers a “lively driving experience” in a good looking package that’s affordable for first time buyers, offering high end sound, lots of standard features and optional TRD performance upgrades. One extremely high note was our excellent repair and resale history, which resonates greatly amongst the tC market.
New for 2016, we’ve added a 7” touchscreen audio display screen, rear wiper, Smart Key with push-button start, silver accented interior door handles and an updated center console.
What did KBB.com think of the way a tC drives? They’ve called it sporty even if it may not be your traditional sports car, due largely in part to the 179hp motor and manual/automatic transmission options that are performance oriented, and is able to hold its own when compared to a Mini Cooper or VW Golf.
Some of KBB.com’s favorite features of the tC include the Bespoke audio system upgrade, which offers navigation, voice activation for the nav and Bluetooth, and the ability to access Yelp and TripAdvisor by using the Aha smartphone app. They also still like that we offer plenty of customizable accessories that can help tC owners separate themselves from the rest of the pack.
Inside, KBB.com says the tC is comfortable, modern and roomier than one would expect, and the 60/40 split rear seats offer great storage space. Outside, the car hasn’t changed since it went through a small redesign not too long ago, so you will still see LED accent lights and large front lower grille.

5 Things You Should Research Before Buying a Car

About to buy a car? Research these things first

Buying a new or used car from a dealership can be a fun, educational and very memorable experience. However, it can be very stressful for those who fail to keep up with their homework. Here are five things you can research before your dealership visit that can help you focus on all of the positives instead of stressing about all of the unknowns.

1. Leasing vs. Purchasing (Which one is right for you?)

Many consumers have a good idea of how a traditional loan works but may be less familiar with leasing. We feel it’s a great idea to be properly informed on both options in order to help make your final purchase decision an easier one. You might find that your short commute, tight budget and love for having the latest and greatest makes you a great candidate for leasing, and as such, Scion offers the Pure Lease program for every model, offering great lease rates to a wide range of credit applicants.

2. Buying Options with No or Limited Credit

Everyone’s financial situation is different, and whether you’re a first time buyer who’s trying to establish some credit or don’t have as good a credit standing as you’d like, many dealerships will offer flexible payment options to get you in the car you want. Also, as a purchaser you have the option of getting a loan through a third-party financing institution, however interest rates and terms may not be to your satisfaction. There are lots of tools out there on the internet and with most institutions you can get an offer within minutes so make sure you do the research to see what is best for you. Toyota Financial Services and Scion offers the Gen-One program which makes it easier for you to jump into a new Scion with limited or no established credit. Find out if you qualify at the Laurel Finance Application page.

3. Special Rebates

Did you graduate from college recently? Are you a member of the U.S. Military? If so, you may qualify for cash rebates toward the car of your dreams because Scion offers great additional rebates to recent college grads and military personnel. New and recent college graduates can use a $750 College Graduate Rebate towards the purchase or lease of any new Scion. To thank our service persons for their duty, Scion is happy to offer a $500 U.S. Military Rebate toward the purchase or lease of a new Scion.

4. Car Insurance

Insurance laws differ from state to state, and researching the requirements for car insurance in your hometown before purchasing a car can save you a lot of time and headache at the dealership. You may want to alert your insurance company that you’re planning to pick up a new car, and may want to ask questions about minimum/maximum coverage requirements in your state and also get an idea of your monthly premium.

5. Extended Warranty and Pre-Paid Maintenance Programs

Should you get extended warranty? Cars can be pretty solid even all the way up until the point where the warranty expires, but an extended warranty helps offer added peace of mind, like our Vehicle Service Agreement (VSA), offering extended protection after the factory warranty expires, such as mechanical breakdown coverage, 24/7 roadside assistance, travel protection benefits and a variety of deductible options and plans to fit your specific needs. And while every Scion comes with a standard no-cost Scion Service Boost maintenance plan, we also offer extended Service Boost Plus maintenance plans to help cover more while saving potential time and money down the line. Read more about the Scion Vehicle Service Agreement and Service Boost Plus.

7 Reasons Scion Is Celebrating This Fall

TORRANCE, Calif -- Sure, Scion was under the radar for awhile, but with the iM and iA now on sale, things are definitely looking up. Here are seven reasons we’re feeling good right now:

  1. Scion was the fastest-growing car brand in September. With its best September in three years and a 57 percent year-over-year increase, Scion had the largest increase of any car brand. And watch out for Q4 sales…they’re tracking to be the best in eight years.

  2. iM and iA Customers. Scion’s role is to bring in new, younger customers to Toyota. Early buyer surveys indicate that more than half of iA and iM buyers are younger than 35 years old and new to Toyota.

  3. That third car. We know…we didn’t say, or show, very much. But we’ll debut a new concept at the L.A. Auto Show that will be the new icon for Scion.

  4. Weird is the new cool. With our new ad campaign featuring James Franco, Urkel and that crazy, waving, dealership tube man, people are seeing a different side of Scion. Weird, Right?

  5. Safety and value are cool, too. The iA recently received the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ and has standard low-speed pre-collision. All starting at $16,495.

  6. Our Formula Drift Team smoked the competition. In Saturday’s finale, Scion drivers Fredric Aasbo and Ken Gushi finished one-two. Aasbo won the World and National Formula Drift Championships and Scion clinched the Manufacturer’s Cup for the second year in a row.

  7. The New Guy. Scion’s new vice presidentAndrew Gilleland, brings experience and enthusiasm to his role. With great products and a commitment from dealers, look for Scion to stay on the radar.

2016 Hyundai Sonata – What’s New?

As the 2016 Hyundai Sonata enters its seventh generation, it does so in a segment that is filled to brimming with great competition.
The family 4-door sedans that it has to go against include the well-known Honda Accord, Chevy Malibu, Kia Optima, and Toyota Camry, which means the Sonata really has to deliver the goods if it wants to stand out in that crowd.

What’s new on 2016 Sonata

The Sonata got a redesign for the 2015 model year, and is now a little more conservative and refined than before.
Gone is the flamboyant styling of older generations, with Hyundai now leaning towards a more conservative style that not everyone is going to like.
Any qualms about the exterior style are quickly forgotten when you get a look at the redesigned cockpit.
There is definitely a German type feel to the layout of the cabin, which is actually very similar to the Kia Optima in many ways. A little splash of flair can be found with the addition of carbon fiber and aluminum-like trims in the cabin.
Among the changes made to the 2016 model are the addition of emergency braking to the forward collision system, new aluminum suspension components, and a 7-inch touchscreen that can be synced with Android Auto on your smartphone.
The 2016 Sonata Limited adopts the more aggressive looking bumper used on the Sport model.

Sonata’s 4-cylinder engine specs

Cars in this class don’t come much lighter, and the Sonata was also among the first in the segment to make the move to a 4-cylinder engine.
Both the 2.4-liter base and the 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder engines go about their business quietly and with little vibration to speak of.
Both engines come equipped with a 6-speed automatic that also has Shiftronic manual controls that allows for seamless shifting.
The 2016 Hyundai Sonata Sport 2.0T models have paddle shifters, and every member of the Sonata family offers a trio of driving modes – Eco, Normal, and Sport – that deliver a little bit of a driving feel.
These settings are for drivers with specific driving needs, and most will simply be comfortable going with the default mode, which is perfectly fine.

Enhanced ride and handling

Hyundai partnered with Lotus to iron out the wrinkles in the handling of the 2015 Genesis. The lessons learned have been carried over to the 2016 version of the Sonata sedan. The vehicle has a stiffer body structure that helps it smooth out bumps in the road. Ride quality and handling have been improved with the addition of the aforementioned aluminum components.
There is little change to the Sport 2.0T, although it does come with more robust P235/45R18 tires. The electric power steering does a good job of maintaining balance, which means it doesn’t wander or get pulled by excess weight.
The Eco is not what can be called a mild hybrid, as it comes with a small displacement 4-cylinder mated to a dual-clutch transmission under the hood that delivers a rather impressive 177 horsepower. That set-up allows the car to achieve 32 mpg, which is a number that ranks it near the top for non-hybrid models.
Where the Sonata really shines is in the space department. While the EPA classifies it as a large vehicle, the Sonata is actually sold and marketed as a midsize. This puts it in the same classification as the likes of the Altima and the Fusion, but a little below the Chevy Impala.
The legroom up front is very good, and even people 6 feet tall and up will enjoy a comfortable ride. There is even more than enough space to cross over a knee, for those who like to adopt a little yoga stance when sitting in the passenger seat. The back seat is not quite as forgiving, but is still similar to that of the other vehicles in the segment.
There are a ton of storage bins in the Sonata, meaning there is plenty of room for all your knick-knacks. The trunk is also larger than expected, with a total of 16.3 cubic feet of space. The trunk also houses seat-fold levers that come in very handy. NVH levels are good, and you can easily hold a conversation in the cabin without yelling.
The Sonata has scored well in crash tests, getting 5 stars from federal ratings, as well as “good” ratings in all but the small overlap test from the IIHS. Safety systems offered include driver knee airbag, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and a forward collision system with emergency braking.
The Sonata line-up is quite the mixed bag. The 2.4-liter engine is found in the SE, Sport, and Limited trims, while the 2.0T is found in the Sport and Limited trims. The Eco comes with the 1.6T engine.
Starting price for the base SE model is set at $22,000, and includes standard equipment such as 16-inch alloy wheels, a rear lip spoiler, automatic headlights, cloth upholstery, an AM/FM/XM/HD/CD radio with a 7-inch color touchscreen, satellite radio, Hyundai BlueLink telematics, Android Auto, a rearview camera, a USB port, and Bluetooth with audio streaming.
The higher up the trim level you go, the more equipment you get. The Sport 2.0T models add paddle shifters, a sport suspension, sport-tuned steering, quad exhaust tips, a rear diffuser, 18-inch wheels, aluminum pedals, and sport seats, and more.
The infotainment system included with the Sonata is delivered on an 8.0-inch touchscreen that is compatible with smartphone apps such as SoundHound and Spotify.
Cars that come with navigation also feature Apple Eyes Free Siri integrations. All of the trim levels now have the Google Android Auto smartphone system, with Apple CarPlay soon to follow.

Toyota Unveils Advanced Technologies in All-New 2016 Prius

Prius to have highest fuel economy of any vehicle without a plug

  •  1.8-liter VVT-i engine achieves 40 percent thermal efficiency
  • Full hybrid system components have been made smaller and lighter, including the electric motor, transaxle, power control unit and hybrid battery
  • Newly developed lithium-ion or nickel-metal hydride batteries
  • Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) chassis delivers impressive driving dynamics
  • Toyota Safety Sense system available among other safety enhancements

TORRANCE, Calif., Oct. 13, 2015 - In its fourth generation, the Toyota Prius is set to take on new markets with groundbreaking environmental performance, a stylish new design, and a fun-to-drive spirit. Today, Toyota is proud to unveil the technological advances that enable its hybrid flagship to break the mold while still remaining true to form.

Toyota has made significant improvements in its new generation full hybrid powertrain, reducing losses, redesigning and relocating key components and reducing weight. Extensive changes to the transaxle, engine and combined hybrid system, generate an expected 10 percent improvement in EPA estimated MPG on core models, with an Eco model that will achieve an even greater improvement.

Engine with Unprecedented Thermal Efficiency
The new Prius retains the established 1.8-liter VVT-i gasoline engine, however,  the engine has been completely re-engineered, with remarkable results in terms of performance, fuel economy, and reductions to size and weight.

The new engine achieves a ground-breaking maximum thermal efficiency of 40 percent. This improvement was enabled in part through the use of a large-volume exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system and improvements in combustion efficiency. Additionally, a redesigned air intake port improves airflow inside the combustion chamber, while the coolant passages have been redesigned to optimize internal engine temperature. The friction created by the piston skirts, rotating parts and the oil pump has been reduced, while the use of low-viscosity oil reduces friction between sliding engine components.

Fuel efficiency is also boosted by improvements to heating performance. An active grille shutter has been added to open and close the grille as necessary in response to outside temperatures. The exhaust heat recirculation system has also been improved and made more compact. This recycles exhaust heat from the engine into the coolant to be reused in the heaters and to warm the engine. Cold weather fuel efficiency has also been improved by introducing an engine coolant selector valve and adding a new system which accelerates engine heating.

Transaxle and Electric Motor
The transaxle and motor have been redesigned, delivering a reduction in their combined weight. The motor itself is considerably more compact and gains a better power-to-weight ratio. Notably there is a 20 percent reduction in mechanical losses through friction compared to the previous model. The planetary gear arrangement in the reduction gear has been replaced with parallel gears, which further helps loss reduction.

Power Control Unit
The use of a loss-reduction device in the power control unit cuts losses by about 20 percent. With a more compact design, the unit can now be positioned directly above the transaxle.

New Lithium-Ion or Nickel-Metal Hydride Hybrid Batteries
The new Prius will be available with either a new lithium-ion or a new nickel-metal hydride hybrid battery. While the batteries use established technology, Toyota has succeeded in increasing their energy density, which means more power can be obtained from a smaller unit. This in turn has allowed the battery to be relocated beneath the rear seat, increasing cargo space.

A Hybrid that Handles
The TNGA concept delivers an increase of more than 60 percent in body torsional rigidity, compared to the previous model, by using Laser Screw Welding (with a greater number of weld points), structural adhesives and uniquely shaped frame structures. In addition, the amount of high-tensile strength steel has increased from 3 percent to an impressive 19 percent. Combine these enhancements with its new double wishbone rear suspension and a lower center of gravity, and the result is a hybrid with a sporty ride.

New updates to the hybrid system software improve the feel of acceleration, giving a smooth and direct response in a lower rpm range. To improve brake feel and reduce noise, the all-new Prius utilizes a newly-developed active hydraulic booster for its regenerative brakes.

Functional Beauty
The new Prius displays cutting-edge styling that’s been designed to evoke a stronger emotional response. The TNGA chassis allows for lower lines, while retaining the Prius’s signature triangular silhouette.

The body height has been reduced by 20mm and the high point of the roof has been moved 170mm forward, ensuring plenty of headroom for front seat passengers while also contributing to excellent aerodynamics and an impressive 0.24 coefficient of drag (Cd). The lower center of gravity has also allowed the nose height to be brought down by 70mm and the rearmost section of the hood by 62mm, improving the driver’s forward view.

Standard bi-LED headlamps are fitted, which use a single lens for both high and low beam operation. They have a striking appearance that adds character and emphasis to the front of the car.

The rear of the Prius features strong lines that extend from the rear spoiler through the combination lamps to meet the edges of the bumper. The result is both distinctive and functionally aerodynamic.

Interior Designed to Please the Senses
Staying true to the core concepts of the Prius, Toyota has produced an occupant-friendly interior that focuses on ease of use, with a design that aims to evoke the car’s advanced capabilities while remaining warm and welcoming.

The new instrument panel has a slim, sculpted form, with optimum positioning of the gauges, displays and controls. White accents on the steering wheel and front console tray add to the impact and advanced quality of the design.

New seats have been created to provide more comfort and support and to help ease the strain of long journeys. Innovations in the materials and thicknesses used for the cushion pads help take the strain off the hips and create a more comfortable feel for passengers.

Improvements have also been made to the cushioning of the rear seats in order to match the higher comfort levels achieved in the front seats. Although the car’s height has been reduced, this is not at the cost of space; in fact an innovative ceiling design has increased headroom compared to previous models.

New Features for On-board Information and Comfort
Toyota has improved the look and performance of the multi-information display in the driver’s instrument panel.  Data and images are now presented in full color with high resolution graphics on dual, 4.2-inch multi-information display screens. The right-hand section presents speed, fuel level and other basic data and the left-hand section is a multi-display where the driver can select preferred content using a switch on the steering wheel.

There is also a new color head-up display, which projects essential vehicle data and alerts on to the lower section of the windscreen, making information instantly and easily readable without the driver having to take their eyes off the road ahead.

The Smart-flow (S-FLOW) air conditioning system improves efficiency. It detects whether the front and rear passenger seats are occupied and adjusts ventilation and heating performance accordingly, minimizing air flow around any empty seats. This results in making the cabin environment more comfortable and also helps improve fuel efficiency.

Available Advanced Technologies Worthy of the Prius Name
The new Prius will make a significant advance in active and preventive safety measures with the available Toyota Safety Sense P package that includes a Pre-collision System with Pedestrian Detection. The system uses a millimeter-wave radar and a single-lens camera with integrated control to detect both cars and pedestrians. The package also comes with Full-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

Drivers can also receive parking assistance with the Intelligent Parking Assist, which uses ultrasonic sensors to detect surrounding objects and identify parking spaces. The driver stops the car before the open parking space and by pushing a single button, the system guides drivers to the right position for reverse parking and assists drivers in backing into the space.

Setting the Stage for the Future of Mobility
It started in 1992 with a vision for the future – mobility in harmony with society.  Prius, which means “to go before” changed the way we move about the world, and changed the automotive industry forever.  More than two decades and over 8 million Toyota hybrid sales later, the all-new, no compromises 2016 Prius stands side by side with its sibling, the hydrogen powered Mirai, poised to change the game yet again. The new Prius will arrive in dealerships early next year.

2016 Toyota Corolla is the Biggest Thing in Compact Cars

The Toyota Corolla may be America’s best-selling compact car, but don’t tell rear seat passengers it’s a compact, because Toyota managed to give them the kind of legroom you’d see in a full-size car – 41.4 inches. That’s just one of the many “class above” features that make the Corolla a standout in its segment. The 42-MPG EPA estimated highway fuel economy for the Corolla LE Eco model is yet another.

Those figures put the Corolla at the head of its class in both areas, with the rear legroom giving a 5-6 inch advantage over most competitors, and the top fuel economy encroaches on some diesels. That makes the Corolla pretty special, something Toyota is celebrating with the aptly named Corolla Special Edition for 2016. Toyota will build 8,000 for the model year.

Based on the sporty Corolla S grade with the CVTi-S transmission, the Special Edition adds more driving excitement. Sporty styling features, inside and out, complement a spirited driving experience made possible with steering wheel paddle shifters, rear disc brakes and Sport Driving Mode along with an array of additional standard features.

The 2016 Corolla Special Edition will turn heads as it adds:

  • Unique 17-inch alloy wheels with gloss black finish
  • Black interior with red contrast stitching
  • Red accented dash and door trim
  • Smart Key System with pushbutton start
  • Three colors: exclusive Absolutely Red, Black Sand Pearl and Super White
  • Special Edition floor mats with logo and unique exterior badge
Toyota’s Entune™ Premium Audio with Navigation and App Suite and power tilt/slide moonroof will be available as options.

The 2016 Corolla is equipped with Entune Audio, Entune Audio Plus or Entune Premium Audio and also receives an upgraded 2.5 version of the system, which brings Siri® Eyes Free Mode. And, on the Corolla LE, LE Eco and S models with Entune Audio Plus, Connected Navigation (Scout® GPS Link) is now an option. The App Suite 2.5 adds Slacker Radio for 2016 and replaces Bing with Destination Search.

Joining the Over 40 Crowd
The Toyota Corolla has been top choice for those seeking high fuel economy for five decades – and through numerous fuel crises and spiking gasoline costs. Toyota’s fuel conservation technology has certainly come a long way since. Today’s Corolla LE Eco CVT is the MPG champ of the line, yet it’s also a strong performer with the highest-powered engine in the line, with 140 horsepower vs. 132 in the other models. And its LE trim is the most popular in the line for its comfort and amenities.

The Corolla LE Eco CVT uses a combination of powertrain technology and aerodynamic elements to achieve exemplary fuel economy. Its exclusive version of the 1.8-liter engine features Valvematic technology, which offers a broader range of continuously variable valve timing (lift and phasing) than even the Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) in the standard Corolla 1.8-liter engine.

Toyota programmed some special tricks into the Corolla LE Eco model. Selecting the ECO driving mode reduces power to the air conditioner compressor, although the system runs in recirculation mode to compensate for the longer cool-down time. The accelerator response is programmed to compensate for choppy driving and to contain acceleration from a standing start in order to help reduce fuel consumption.

So, switching to ECO mode not only reduces fuel consumption but also helps makes you a smoother driver. Yet, push the accelerator past 50-percent throttle, such as when merging in traffic, and the engine responds the same as when in Normal mode.

The Corolla LE Eco cheats the wind with aerodynamic underbody covers and a color-keyed rear spoiler, which brings its coefficient of drag (Cd) down to an impressive 0.28 (0.29 and 0.30 in other Corolla models). The under-covers are located below the bumper fascia, engine, front and rear floor and fuel tank to help manage airflow for enhanced efficiency. (The Corolla S model gets these special panels, too).

Special low rolling resistance  P195/65R15 tires do their share to reduce fuel usage, and these can be upgraded to larger 205/55R16 tires on very cool looking, aerodynamic alloy wheels. There’s no compromise to comfort, as the Corolla LE Eco comes standard with:

  • Automatic climate control
  • Entune audio with multimedia bundle, 6.1-inch display screen and six speakers
  • Rear camera with projected path guide lines for parking ease
  • Tilt/telescopic steering wheel with Bluetooth® hands-free phone controls
There’s also no sacrificing the upgrade path with the Eco model; the available Plus and Premium trims add more amenities, the latter including, for example, SofTex®-trimmed heated front seats and an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.

A Smarter CVT
The base model Corolla L continues with a choice of a 6-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. Aside from the efficient engines used in the 2016 Corolla line, a key factor in higher fuel economy is the available advanced CVTi-S -- Continuously Variable Transmission with intelligence, with the “S” added for “Shift.”

The “S” is a key differentiator from competitors’ CVTs. The Toyota CVTi-S feels more like a conventional automatic in operation, with discrete stepped shift points programmed into the car’s acceleration and deceleration curves. The CVTi-S even mimics the familiar characteristics of hydraulic automatics by creating a sense of positive shift engagement.  On the Corolla S trim, up to seven shift-points can be manually actuated from the shift lever or steering wheel paddle shifters.

A wide ratio range from 2.480 (low) to 0.396 (high), coupled with a 4.761 final drive ratio, endows Corolla models equipped with the CVTi-S a superbly rounded resume of performance, efficiency and quietness.

Strength
If the 41.4 inches of rear legroom draws comparisons to larger cars, the quietness of the Corolla cabin underscores the parallel. The Corolla’s unibody, which makes extensive use of high tensile-strength steel, provides a rigid platform that forms a foundation for tight handling and ride smoothness. Also extensive is the array of measures that keep outside noises out: acoustic glass windshield, floor carpet insulation, an instrument panel seal between the cowl and the windshield, fender insulators and an inner dash silencer pad.

A rigid steering structure enhances the direct feeling coming through the electric power-assist steering system. There’s also no messy hydraulic steering fluid to change or top off. The high-strength structure allows the suspension to be tuned for agility without sacrificing comfort. Spring rates on Corolla are optimized for ride comfort, with the Corolla S getting its own, sportier suspension calibration.

S Stands for Sport
The Corolla S is the sport sedan of the line, and it looks the part with an exclusive piano-black grille, rear spoiler, fog lights and chrome-tipped tailpipe. The Corolla S is available in its own exclusive exterior color, Blue Crush Metallic. Inside, bolstered sport seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel add proper sport sedan feel. Sport suspension tuning and 16-inch wheels with P205/55R16 tires spice up the driving experience. Springs, dampers and bushings all are unique to the S model.

Driving purists can get a 6-speed manual transmission in the Corolla S, while the available CVTi-S adds a Sport driving mode and features steering wheel paddle shifters to let the driver make fast, sequential shifts through the transmission’s seven predefined steps. Or, use the console shifter to upshift or downshift in the M position. Selecting Sport mode sharpens vehicle responses by altering shift points of the CVTi-S and also providing a livelier feel through the electric power steering programming.

Exclusive to the Corolla S, a 3.5-inch TFT multi-information display within the instrument cluster displays M mode activity, including the “gear” position, and other vehicle data. In either case, the CVTi-S will upshift or downshift on its own if the engine revs too high or too low.

Toyota Value: The Gold Standard
Toyota makes choosing a Corolla easy. The base L model offers renowned Toyota reliability in an affordable package. The standard air conditioning system includes a dust and pollen filter, and this “base” grade hardly seems so with:

  • Standard USB and iPod® connectivity
  • Bluetooth® for hands-free phone control, phone book access and audio streaming
  • A 60/40 split fold-down rear seat
  • Tilt and telescoping steering wheel
  • Power windows and door locks
  • Overhead console with map light
  • Entune Audio with multimedia bundle, including a 6.1-inch display screen and six speakers.
All the customer needs to choose is the 6-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission and pick a color.

The most popular Corolla, the LE, steps up the comfort with:

  • Automatic climate control with dust and pollen filter
  • Cruise control
  • Upgraded interior trim and 3-spoke steering wheel
  • Multi-function in-key remote
  • Integrated backup camera with projected path guidelines
  • Color-keyed heated power outside mirrors
A Plus upgrade option adds fog lights and 16-inch alloy wheels, while the LE Premium adds SofTex®-trimmed heated front seats with an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and power tilt/slide moonroof.

Star Safety
High-strength construction sets the foundation for exemplary collision performance in the Corolla which, like all Toyota models, comes equipped with the Star Safety System™. This comprehensive array includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist. The Corolla also comes equipped with the Smart Stop Technology brake-override system and an electronic tire pressure monitoring system.

Limited Warranty
Toyota’s 36-month/36,000 mile basic new-vehicle warranty applies to all components other than normal wear and maintenance items. Additional 60-month warranties cover the powertrain for 60,000 miles and corrosion with no mileage limitation.

Standard Toyota Care is a complimentary plan covering normal factory-scheduled maintenance and 24-hour roadside assistance for two years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first.

5 Tire Tips You Didn't Know

Some of the best advice we’ve ever heard: Invest in what goes between you and the ground. That means good shoes, a good mattress and good tires. People often neglect their tires or just don’t pay too much attention to them in general. It’s important to check your tires’ PSI once per month and have them rotated every 5,000 miles.

Here are a handful of tire tips from caranddriver.com we bet you didn’t know :

1. Skinny tires, much taller and narrower than the norm, are coming back. BMW’s i3 electric/plug-in hybrid, which relies on minimal rolling resistance to achieve acceptable driving range, is leading the charge. The i3’s Bridgestone Ecopia EP500 tires have aspect ratios ranging from 55 to 70 (narrow tread, tall outside diameter) to reduce energy loss as the tire rolls into and out of its footprint. This shape also reduces the car’s frontal area and aerodynamic drag. To compensate for a reduced air cavity and a smaller-than-normal footprint, Bridgestone uses an elevated inflation pressure to deliver the desired acceleration, braking, and cornering traction.

2. In the strictly theoretical sense, increasing just the width of a tire does nothing to improve acceleration or braking traction. A wider tire will have a shorter contact patch, which is precisely what you don’t want when the goal is maximum longitudinal grip. Jamie McNutt, the replacement-tire development manager at Bridgestone Americas, says that a longer, not wider, contact patch helps you climb faster to maximum braking grip.

3. Wider tire treads do, however, increase cornering grip. Again, though, tire engineers are always working with multiple variables. See our first point about the modern Corvette, which uses skinnier tires than its predecessor yet increases its roadholding with a stickier compound. To maximize traction in all directions, tire engineers aim for an even pressure distribution throughout the contact patch.

4. Static electricity build-up is an old concern that has returned to haunt modern tires. An inadequately grounded vehicle is an issue during refueling and when occupants slide out of the car’s interior. Modern tire compounds have become less conductive as manufacturers have greatly reduced the amount of carbon black in rubber compounds to cut weight and rolling resistance.

5. A run-flat tire can roll for more than 100 miles after it loses pressure. Tire manufacturers typically claim that a deflated run-flat can cover 50 miles at 50 mph, but if you slow down, you can stretch that distance much farther. Lee Willard, a product development engineer at Michelin, says the range roughly doubles if you drop your speed to 40 mph. Slow down more, and the range continues to grow. It’s all about reducing the amount of heat generated in the tire.
